Alliance

WL and Supp

WL is part of the Supp alliance. To join us you will need to set Supp as your “WvW team”. See “Setting Your Alliance” section below. This means that you will need two guild spots available for both the guild (WL) and the alliance (Supp).

GW2 World Restructuring and Alliance System

World Restructuring is the system that replaced the old world-based team setup in World vs World (WvW). Previously, players were grouped into teams based on their home world. With restructuring, players are now grouped into teams based on their selected WvW guilds instead.

Originally, ArenaNet planned to introduce an Alliance system to let multiple guilds officially band together. While that specific feature wasn’t implemented, a workaround was introduced: a 6th guild slot. This allows players to join an extra guild specifically for WvW coordination and alliances.

Each player can now designate one of their guilds as their “WvW Guild.” These WvW guilds are then grouped together by the system to form a team for the duration of a matchup. Many players use the 6th guild slot to coordinate with others who want to play together regularly — effectively creating player-managed alliances.

When World Restructuring first rolled out, WL functioned as both a guild and an informal alliance. In June 2024, we officially joined the Supp alliance. Since then, we’ve been matched with our alliance guildmates each reset, keeping our WvW community united on the battlefield.

Setting Your Alliance

To set your alliance, first make sure that you have the guild selected in your guild list.

The guild should be highlighted (see screenshot).

Click the “Set as WvW Guild” button before the team creation lockout expires.

Once your WvW Guild (alliance) has been selected, you should see an icon that looks like a castle with a clock over it next to the guild’s name.

Confirm that the correct guild has the icon before the team creation lockout. Once the team lockout deadline has passed you cannot change your WvW Guild (alliance) until the next world reset.

After the team lockout, you will have a castle icon next to your alliance guild.

Each match is about 4 weeks. Once teams are assigned, you will not able to transfer between teams until the next match reset.
